Research

The research that shapes what we build.

Ardvarq is a research-driven company. The tools we build are grounded in what we are learning about how higher education actually serves its students, and what would have to change for it to serve them better.

What we learned from the CU Boulder pilot

01

The deepest engagement came from the students we worried we'd miss.

Students who used Ardvarq most heavily during the pilot had cumulative GPAs below the institutional average, more turns per session, and a higher return rate. Traditional advising is built around students who walk into an office. Conversational tools appear to reach the ones who don't.

02

Real decisions, not just conversations.

Most meaningful conversations produced a concrete plan change: a course added or removed, a major explored, a schedule revised. The pattern got more substantive as conversations got deeper.

03

Knowing what it isn't.

When mental health, financial pressure, or other non-academic issues surfaced, the system routed students to human advisors and university resources. Ardi handles the routine academic decisions. The rest stays with humans.
